Terms of Service

Welcome to Datums Space. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Datums Space application, local developer sandboxes, Cloud Sync proxies, and related services (collectively, the "Platform").

By accessing or using our Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not access or use the Platform.

1. Local-First Architecture & Data Ownership

Datums Space is built as a local-first agentic data platform. This means:

• Local Compute: All database operations, structured & unstructured data ingestion, neural OCR parsing, and relational joins compile and run client-side using DuckDB-Wasm and Tesseract OCR directly inside your browser sandbox.
• Local Storage: Your raw datasets, index metadata, and database files are cached and persisted locally in your browser's IndexedDB environment.
• Data Custody: Datums Space does not have custody of, nor do we host or access, your raw data records on our servers unless you explicitly configure and authorize Cloud Sync scopes.

2. Software License & Sandbox Usage

Subject to these Terms, Datums Space grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access the Platform, run local offline sandboxes, and utilize the browser-level query environment for standard personal or commercial data engineering.

You may self-host sync proxies or interface the Platform with your private Firebase infrastructure. You are responsible for configuring and securing your private cloud configurations.

3. Acceptable Use & Security

You agree not to use the Platform to:

• Violate any applicable laws, export controls, or privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).
• Bypass local security constraints, run malicious sandboxed script extensions, or attempt to compromise local-to-cloud sync authentication structures.
• Upload or sync raw records containing protected health information (PHI) or personally identifiable information (PII) unless you have enabled and configured the appropriate HIPAA PHI shielding and PII scrubbing features within the Privacy Lab.

4. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Your local sandbox data is cached inside browser IndexedDB storage. Clearing your browser cache, executing system cleanups, or switching browser sessions may result in permanent data deletion. Datums Space is not responsible for any data loss, corrupted Parquet files, or synchronization failures.

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE UNDER LAW, DATUMS SPACE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

5. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
